This landscape looks like a Hollywood set for the next “Indiana Jones” movie. Everything just looks so interesting. I have been to several ruins around the world, but nothing that looks like this. The ruins of Bagan cover an area of 16 square miles (41 km2). The majority of its buildings were built in the 11th century to 13th century, during the time Bagan was the capital of the First Burmese Empire. After an earthquake in 1975, there are only 2,217 pagodas left in Bagan, in contrast to more than 5,000 before the disaster.
