Just Another Temple in Cambodia – But Oh wat a Temple!

A Word in Your Ear

If the King’s Palace in Cambodia is all too formal/expensive for you I have an alternative that is close by and does not cost a cent.   Walk up the road with the Palace walls to your left.  A couple of streets up on the right is a very old temple.

Gateway to temple complex

Everything here is crumbling but of course this adds to the ambience.

There were no mangy dogs and the monks are happy for you to look around.

There are some interesting statues in the grounds – not sure what is going on here!

Loved this statue

It really pays to screw your courage to the sticking post and have a wander off the beaten track – this is what you could find.  Amazing stuff. And of course you can have a  well-earned drink at the Foreign Correspondents Club just down the road.

Willow Stream Spa at Mayakoba: Chocolate Nourishment for the Soul

Travel Destination Bucket List

Imagine being covered from head to toe in decadent dark chocolate – the ultimate pampering begins at Willow Stream Spa at Mayakoba Fairmont Resort in the Mayan Riviera.  For chocolate lovers – nourishment for the soul begins here!

The Food of the Gods package is decadent, a 60 minute treat for the senses.  Chocolate, or Ka’kaw (Mayan word for chocolate), was highly revered in pre-Hispanic Mexico.  Often offered as a tribute to the gods, it was, and still is, considered to be edible gold.  Loaded with antioxidants, this experience includes a cacao mask body wrap, scalp massage and finishes with a coconut oil and rose essence massage.

We recently announced that the incredible Low Line Park project, which plans to transform an abandoned underground subway station into a flourishing subterranean public space, has started a Kickstarter campaign that is pulling in big bucks. Collecting more than $135,000 in funds already, the underground oasis is moving closer and closer to realization. In honor of this enormous backing, and to rouse up even more excitement, Mark Miller Gallery will be displaying a life-size rendering of the Delancey Underground throughout the month of April. In an exhibition titled “Let There Be Light,” visitors can see the underground park at scale, examine the designers’ 3D replica of the park, and learn more about the solar technology that can make the park possible.
